What UK ring size am I?
There are number of ways to help you choose the correct ring size when buying online.
MOST ACCURATE OPTION: You could ask to have your finger, on which you wish to wear your ring, measured for your ring size at a local jewellers. Or for an existing ring to be measured (one that you wear on the same finger). You may have to pay a small fee for this.
POSTAL RING SIZER: I can post you a ring sizer to measure your ring size. This will come with instructions. Once you have measured your finger, take a photo of the sizer whilst still on your finger clearly showing the size. Email me your ring size and the photo to: nicolaprophetjewellery@yahoo.com
The ring sizer & postage cost is £3.00 – Although the ring sizer is made of plastic it can be reused by you, your family & friends for future sizing / purchases.
Or, if you return the ring sizer to me, so that it can be reused by another customer, I will deduct £3.85* from the price of your ring order.
*includes covering your cost of 85p for 2nd class post return.
REQUIRES ACCURATE MEASURING: Lay an existing ring (one that you currently wear on the same finger) on a ruler. Look at the inside diameter and write down the measurement. Take a photo of the ring laying on the ruler as well. Email your measurement and photo to me at: nicolaprophetjewellery@yahoo.com
TIPS:
PLEASE NOTE: Each finger, on each hand, is likely be a different ring size and things like hand temperature can affect the how the ring fits – hot hands may make a ring feel tighter, cold hands could make a ring looser.
WIDE RING BANDS: If choosing a ring which has a wide ring band, you may wish to go up a ring size or half size, so the fit isn’t too tight.
I am currently unable to offer a resizing ring service.

How to keep your jewellery looking lovely
Silver, gold & sea glass are beautiful, but they like a little TLC!
• We love swimming in the sea, splashing in the pool, dipping in the hot tub then rinsing off in the shower. But silver, gold & sea glass don’t! Take your jewellery off and keep it somewhere safe & dry. (They don’t like washing up either, so just get someone else to do it!)
• Once sea glass is set in silver, any water that might get behind the sea glass could cause dark spots of discolouration on the silver. These cannot be removed and could ruin your jewellery. Same for any translucent gemstones.
• That’s a really lovely perfume you’re wearing! But silver & gold don’t like it! Try to keep them free from lotions and potions.
• If you’re not wearing your silver and gold, pop them back in the gift box or your own jewellery box, so it’s nice and snug. It helps keep it tarnish free! If you do get some naturally occurring tarnish on your silver, simply give it a little rub over with a jewellery polishing cloth to get that lovely shine back.
All about Sea Glass
From discarded bottles and broken glass that have been left behind and then drawn out to sea; these little glass nuggets have been tumbled by the waves over many, many years.
They come in beautiful shades and are the perfect partner for silver, creating unique pieces of jewellery. I don’t cut the sea glass to size or shape, my sea glass jewellery is purely shaped by the waves.
Just like gemstones can have natural inclusions, sea glass that is shaped by the waves can have little rough, uneven worn edges or little chips missing. As long as there is no risk of damage to the wearer, I use the sea glass exactly as I found it on the beach. I hand pick all my sea glass.
Some people prefer the natural, worn look of the sea glass and others prefer more of a 'wet look' - as if you had just found it on the beach. If that is the case, then you can gently dab a little olive oil, coconut oil or baby oil on the sea glass with some kitchen roll.
Why is my jewellery not Hallmarked?
- Silver items below the weight of 7.78g do not legally have to be Hallmarked. I have carefully checked that all my recycled sterling and fine silver jewellery is below this legal weight. Please see the British Hallmarking Council Dealers Notice displaying the exemption weights. All my recycled sterling and fine silver is only sourced from reputable bullion dealers Cooksongold and Kernowcraft.
- As a start-up business Hallmarking is a relatively complex and expensive process. Once I am established as a business, I will be applying for my own Hallmark - to be used when legally required, as requested by customers and to indicate the standard of fineness.
Eco, Ethics & Materials
- My aim is to try and create jewellery whilst using as many sustainable materials from ethical and fair trade dealers as possible - From my bullion silver suppliers, gemstones, to my jewellery packaging.
- I’m always learning new ‘green’ methods and looking for new eco materials. A wonderful example is the accredited recycled silver I source – it’s created from scrap silver taken from lots of different industries and their waste material. It’s just as sparkly and the same quality but a lot more earth friendly!
- Your jewellery is packaged & protected in a little blue gift box from The Tiny Box Company – they are made from 100% recycled material with a white eco-fibre insert. ECO Bonus! Keep the box to store & protect your jewellery or use box to re-gift!
- All items are posted in a mailing bag made from recycled material, with eco-friendly padding inside. Reuse or 100% recyclable.
- The handmade, patterned paper gift box wrap and the origami star (made by me) are both completely recyclable and biodegradable. The paper is sourced from the wonderful small paper making business, Cambridge Imprint (check them out!). The stock they print on has Forest Stewardship Council certification, which means that it is produced from sustainable sources.
- My little blue star stickers come from Jeff and the Squirrel and are made from 100% recycled materials and are 100% recyclable.
- The tissue paper I use is from Beautiful Papers Ltd and is made from 100% recycled fibre. They are also 100% biodegradable.
- A number of my jewellery pieces are made from scrap silver, left over whilst I’m making other pieces. I melt the scraps down, reform and create something new.
- My workshop waste is collected and stored, so that it can eventually be sent to a precious metal recycling service, enabling the recovery and reuse of valuable metals.
By choosing to buy direct from the maker (me) you’re choosing to avoid fast fashion, support a small business and you will own a unique, handmade little treasure, Yay! Thank you so much!
