Red Heart Sea Glass Silver 'Kintsugi' Pendant

Beautifully broken hearted....this piece is made whole again - changed, stronger and more lovely for what it's been through.

I was setting this red, heart-shaped piece of sea glass into recycled silver when crack! - it broke cleanly in two.

The heartbreaking choice? Do I discard it?

But instead, embracing sustainability, I turned to Kintsugi - the Japanese art of honouring breakage by undisguised repair.

Using ethical, shimmering golden Mica mixed with epoxy, I filled the frature and let the break become part of the story.  Not hidden, celebrated.

Jewellery inspired by by the Cornish coastline.

All the information:

The red sea glass is set in recycled fine silver & sterling silver and is hand filed, hand sanded and hand polished to a high shine.  

The back of the silver has a brushed, matt effect.

The pendant, at its widest measures approx. 13mm.  The length is around 18mm.  

The recycled sterling silver diamond cut (for extra shine) curb chain measures 18".

Priced to reflect its precious imperfection.

Just like gemstones can have natural inclusions, sea glass that is shaped by the waves can have little rough, uneven worn edges or little chips missing.
